Each year the Varkey Foundation hosts the Global Teacher Prize, which celebrates a public school teacher having the greatest impact on their community. The 10 finalists are flown to Dubai to present their work in front of thousands of peers and education industry professionals. One amazing educator is awarded the final prize of one million dollars to further their work in education. This year during the ceremonies, math teacher Peter Tabichi of Kenya was awarded the grand prize, which was highlighted with performances by Dana Leong on Electric Cello performing his original piece “Dream State”, Hugh Jackman performing songs from “The Greatest Showman” & Rita Ora!
