Check out San Francisco Chronicle’s preview/interview of the Fillmore Jazz Fest: ‘Given his love of hip-hop, commitment to jazz and immersion in Western classical music, Leong seems like an ideal artist to open the Fillmore Jazz Festival…”I’m still playing trombone, but this is the time to let the cello shine,” Leong says.’

Dana joins Project Bandaloop for a free outdoor performance of BOND(LESS) at the Old Post Office in Washington, DC on Friday, May 11, presented by The Kennedy Center. Bring a reclining chair or mat to lie down on, and watch this large-scale vertical dance. BOUND(LESS) explores how we imagine and construct the meaning of our identity as it is forged through human interactions and interactions with our environment. Featuring evocative live music by Dana, BOUND(LESS) looks at our internal and collaborative sense of self through moments that reveal our vulnerability and longing and group choreography that brings to life the tensions and power of communal action.

Back in November, Dana Leong was asked to arrange and conduct music for ESPN’s tribute to NASCAR racer Jimmie Johnson. An ensemble compromised of the hottest New York string players was put together by Dana, and the program, combining elements of classical music and car racing, was shot and aired exclusively on the sports channel.
We’re excited to announce that the clip is now available for your enjoyment! And did we mention Dana is a racer himself? And an avid motorcyclist?
